Resource Highlight – “From Teaching to Thinking: A Pedagogy for Reimagining Our Work”
Over the next while, we’ll be sharing some of the amazing resource books we have available for borrowing from our Early Childhood Resource Library. This week Daljit shares her thoughts on reading “From Teaching to Thinking: A Pedagogy for Reimagining Our Work ” by Ann Pelo & Margie Carter
“Reading this book confirmed for me that as Early Childhood Educators it is not our job to teach young children in the traditional sense of us being the teacher that directs the learning. Nor does our teaching have to be completely child directed, but rather co-constructed. As Educators, it is our job to co-construct knowledge and learning with not just the children we work with, but also families within our communities. By shifting our thinking, we can align ourselves with the vision of the BC Early Learning Framework, which is to ‘respectfully [live] and [learn] together.’ I love how this book also includes a selection of poems and quotes, calling us to not just read, but also critically reflect with an open heart and mind!”
