Today is Multicultural Children’s Book Day, a day to share culturally diverse books for children and families. This day is meant to shine the spotlight on diversity in children's literature. The Early Childhood Resource Library at Child Care Options CCRR has a wonderful selection of beautiful, diverse children's books for you to borrow.

Subscriptions are free to individuals working in the early childhood community in Delta, Surrey, or White Rock.

Hello and welcome to everyone attending the 26th annual Children the Heart of the Matter Conference in just over a week! We are thrilled to share with you a wonderful line up of guests planned for the Friday evening opening.

The Kwel Eng Sen dancers from Semiahmoo First Nation will be dancing for us, we can't wait! Chief Harley Chappell of Semiahmoo First Nation will offer a traditional welcome. Next, Minister of State for Child Care, Grace Lore will share a few words with us. And then Dr. Jody Carrington, our keynote speaker for the evening, will talk about reconnection and building authentic relationships with children.

This is an evening not to be missed!

If you haven't registered yet, don't wait! The deadline for attending in person is Monday, January 30th at 8:00 pm. If you choose to attend virtually, the deadline to register is February 2nd at 8:00 pm.

What are the big ideas in early mathematics? What materials and learning experiences help to create an intentional and joyful approach to the teaching and learning of early mathematics? In this session, Janice will share the big ideas in early mathematics such as counting, decomposing and patterning and how they develop from toddler through to kindergarten and what materials and experiences can support the development of these ideas in young children.
