When we are looking at guiding and caring for the children in our centres, we often focus more on the “theories” and less on practical day-to-day strategies to make all children comfortable in our centres. This is especially true for children with sensitivities or developmental delays that limit their abilities to make quick connections. In this workshop, we hope to provide you with some ideas of what guiding and caring really means in a group setting and some practical ways to connect with all the children in your centre.

SUITABLE FOR ALL EARLY LEARNING AND CHILD CARE PROFESSIONALS

Presenters: Pia Evans and Shawna Moores

Pia and Shawna are both Supported Child Development (SCD) Consultants with Reach Child and Youth Development Society. In their roles as SCD Consultants, they spend their days connecting with families of children with extra needs and the wonderful caregivers that open their doors to these children. Pia and Shawna both have years of child care experience in previous roles therefore they can come at guiding and caring from both the child and family view as well as the child care view.
