Risk and risky play are vital to child development. How do we encourage healthy interactions with risk while setting children up to be relatively safe? In this workshop, attendees will learn how to engage children in risk assessments to support children becoming autonomous risk assessors. Participants will learn essential skills required for supporting children in risky play outside. We will engage in risk-taking activities while walking participants through how we can support children in risky play through risk assessments, site assessments, boundary setting, and mindfulness.
