All that we are is story…We can change the world, one story at a time.” – Richard Wagamese (Native Author and Storyteller).

In a world where we are constantly rushed, storytelling is almost a lost art. In today’s electronic age children are losing their creative thinking and their ability of creating images in their mind. However, storytelling is one of the traditional ways to teach our children lessons about life. Through storytelling children develop listening skills, patience, problem solving, creative thinking, and many more skills used in their early years development. Story baskets are created to expose children to various ways of learning and are a hands-on approach to education. Story baskets present an opportunity for interaction between parent and child, child and peers, and child and educator. The creation of a story basket is beneficial to the maker as it is to the listener.

Throughout this workshop you can expect to learn:
– How to create a story with loose pieces
– How to use a story basket
This workshop includes a make and take – The Flower That Smiled.  The fee includes all materials for the make and take.
The Flower that Smiled – Story basket make and take description
Let’s learn about kindness and encouragement from a little butterfly and the flower that smiled. Bring your creativity and your open mind to this workshop and make a story basket to keep.

“Through stories, children gain a lot of knowledge about life and the world’s values, and can then form goals and visions for their own lives.” –  Susan Munzer (Author and Early Childhood Educator).
