Children’s outdoor play in the winter is magical. The more they run, jump, slide, climb and experiment with rain, snow, ice, and frost, the more opportunities they have to embrace the beauty of the season. Outdoor play in the winter inspires children to become explorers and discoverers of many things such as animal tracks, what makes crunching sounds, and how snowflakes and snow feel on mittens and tongues. This session will provide practical ideas for making outdoor play magical in the winter and highlights how math, science, language, physical literacy, and dramatic play is inherent in winter play.
