Time-out or time-away are often used to discipline children. Have we ever stopped and asked ourselves as adults why we use this technique? Reflected on whether it actually works? What we hoped to achieve by disciplining our children this way?
Is discipline supposed to be as reactive as the behaviours we are seeing in our children?
Through this Parent Education Session, we will discuss different ways of guiding our children’s behaviour. By learning to identify triggers and elements that cause them – to understand the context of their behaviour, we as adults can alter our reactions and response to the behaviours we see in our children. All the while gifting our children with problem-solving skills they will need to use throughout their life. As well as learning to self-regulate by co-regulating with their parents/caregivers first.
