This presentation is intended to emphasize the current information on recommended practices for working with families. It includes a brief review of the parental and professional roles, and review of promising Family Centered Practice. It also provides strategies on “how to“ talk to parents regarding their child’s behaviour in a friendly but informative way that will enhance parent-professional interactions, and prompt parents participation in their child’s early education and development. The importance of, and strategies for collaborative communication and partnership with a family is also presented.
