When a child expresses their anger in an aggressive way, it can be very challenging to stay calm, not take it personally and guide them through this experience in a successful way. During this workshop session, we will pinpoint where the escalation happens as well as the exact issue as to why the child may strike out or become aggressive. We will also prioritize the action steps to take to de-escalate a child even in the most chaotic and violent circumstances whether it be at home, at school or in a program. The aim is to fully understand what is going on, why it is happening and what to do about it to create the most positive outcome for everyone involved.
This workshop is designed for people who want to increase their skills in how to respond more positively to children who are expressing anger, aggression or bullying. This workshop is also ideal for people who want a more consistent and unified approach across the team or center.
This workshop will include a framework on how to recognize the key elements to create a ‘plan of action’ with in your team and know how to respond and reinforce the good behaviour and correct any negative behaviour that may come up.
This will be an interactive discussion that includes opportunities for questions, situational examples, take home tools to use towards a future action plan in your center or at home as well as moments of reflection to connect head and heart to the core of this matter.
